Sony PS3 2.52 firmware update details

Sony has announced the release of PS3 firmware update 2.52, the update is only a minor one, so do not expect all the bells and whistles. The firmware update should be ready to download already, so you should get a message appear on screen when you turn your PlayStation 3 on.

Firmware Update 2.52 includes the following features, playback quality of some PS3 software has been improved, the text entry issue has been fixed, this problem used to appear when you used the on-screen keyboard, Bluetooth keyboard or USB keyboard with some PS3 software

Many Sony PS3 owners were hoping for a bigger and better update, something as big as the major update like the upcoming Xbox Experience. We will have to make do with a standard boring update.

I´ve had 4x xbox 360 consoles and they all broke down or i just got them faulty from the brand new box. So i decided to exchange to ps3 when i went with the 4th console. and i feel much better with the ps.

hey look, i have both consoles. Only one 360 was starting to mess up on me. In total, I have had 4 360. One of the consoles was an upgrade to an elite. I am an Xbox fanatic, but have no problem giving credit where credit is due. That being said, PS3 does not suck, it technically is superior to the 360 in terms of power. Problem is it was never properly implemented out the door. Sony’s bad. Years later it still has a ways to go. When the developers start using the processors, then Sony should be good.

Here is why I think Xbox is a notch better at this time. It has more enjoyable games. That is not to say it does not have it’s share of crap. Sony does too. 360 has a better controller and better FPS/3rd PS which is what I enjoy playing. The online is far more superior to the PS3 online. Maybe when HOME come up, there maybe some competition. Yes, we do have to pay almost 60 a year for it, but the updates never take as long a PS3. They do do patches here and there. That is what we pay for and you always get what you pay for.

I’ll use Socom confrontation as an example. It’s in online only game. So why is it that when it was launched, even after beta testing, it was having so many issues. I know it has more to do with slant 6’s servers than Playstations, but I can guarantee it would not happen on LIVE. The Friends list, adding and what not, is done soooo much better then Sony’s. I like both PS3 and Xbox’s GUI screens when you first turn on the consoles.

Seriously, each consoles has pros and cons. One would be a fool not to agree with that statement. Yes Microsoft launched the RROD laden systems early. Beyond those issues, XBOX is a solid machine. To call it a “Poor mans game console” is juvenile at best. I stutter trying to recall what 360 mimicked from PS3. Where as PS3 is going with the Trophies (Achievements), the trigger on the controller, the center button on the controller, the friends list (though still not done right), Online in general was done better by Xbox (even the first Xbox), and who know what else I am forgetting. Oh, Sony did do the Blue Ray, bluetooth, and internal wireless. That is something Microsoft needs to acknowledge was a better business move.

Before anyone goes trying to bash or flame me, just know I dont mind responding to any reply as long as it is constructive. Please shoot me something I forgot to aid in Sony’s case. Again, I have both systems. I have already made my list for games coming out till March 09 via Gamestop and can tell you now that the 360 outnumbers games that interest me (me not you) by 3 or 4 to1.

    Thanks for listening.

I have both consoles as well, if you only have one or the other you are missing out. Both have exclusives, the xbox’s online gaming is superior, no question. But, the ps3 has the bluray, and it upconverts standard dvd’s to a quality level better than any upconverter I have ever seen. Plus the PS3 has the web browser which now supports flash video, so hulu.com and youtube can be used. Xbox has the netflix…all in all both are great. My xbox is exclusively for gaming, and online play with friends, my ps3 is better as an entertainment hub. If you don’t have both, don’t bash one or the other because you don’t have it. Bet them both and offer objective opinions that people can use to make an informed purchase.

Ok, “Not bad” i have one major problem with you saying “I stutter trying to recall what 360 mimicked from PS3.” how about online? The PS2 was the first console to carry online gameplay and it was history ever since, the only reason that everyone is in love with 360 is because Microsoft publicizes the 360 at an unbelievable rate. When it first came out, they put advertisements of it EVERYWHERE, and instantly people needed to have it, and suddenly its the superior console. It may be a good console, ill give it that, but one thing is for sure. The PS3 was aimed to people who are serious about gaming and their quality of games. Many people who fell in love with a PS2 in turn, fell in love with their PS3 as well. I had a PS2 the day it came out, played it ever since. When the XBOX came out, i played it, kinda liked it, and i thought it was too cramped for my liking, i didn’t like the operating system.. they tried to make it look a lot better than it actually was. Its all in opinion, that’s all.. people just like the 360, because everyone else likes it. And the PS3 will remain in the polls, as the superior next gen console. and most, of not all, ps3 owners will agree with me on this one.
