Xbox 360’s Gears of War 2 vs Sony PS3’s Resistance 2

Here we have a video comparison of Gears of War 2 on the Xbox 360 against Resistance 2 on the Sony PS3. The video compares a number of things on the game, from the all important graphics, trailers and the multiplayer aspect of the game.
With Resistance 2 for the Sony PlayStation 3 out today, November 4th, and Gears of War 2 for the Xbox 360 out on November 7th, both games are getting a lot of interest. A number of gamers have said that Resistance 2 offers more content than GoW 2, but there is more to a game than just the content.
PS3 owners will swear by Resistance 2, as Xbox 360 owners will swear by Gears of War 2, the lucky gamers are those who own both consoles, then they will offer an unbiased opinion as to what both games have to offer.

Well if you read the reviews on Metacritic you will realize that Gears 2 is just a great game all around and the High Score of 94 score shows that. When you read the R2 reviews there is a pattern of not having co-op on the campaign and that the graphics a a little lacking which lands it at 89 on Metacritic.

You may have a point but then there is the overwhelming 100 scores given by 6 reviewers on Metacritic that R2 does not receive. The highest score is 96 by one reviewer for R2
I also wanted to add that I did not see any Midnight madness sales for R2 but on Friday at Midnight all around the world there will be Madness everywhere when Gears 2 hits. I think that says a lot no matter what score anyone wants to post.
First of all, GOW2 is the cream of the crop, Resistance 2 is in the minor leagues compared to it. It doesn’t mean that Resistance 2 is horrible. I’ve been sitting on the fence to buy a PS3 but no exclusive game is special enough to warrant a purchase. However, IF I gave in and bought a PS3, Resistance 2 would be the game that would do it for me.
With that said, the reviews for Resistance 2 are rather generous, especially when diehard Sony fans have nothing else to rally behind but the 60 player online. To me that’s a cop out. It’s laziness on the developer’s part to rely on the players to play with each other to have fun. The FPS genre is a crowded one, nothing makes Resistance 2 stand out. Graphics isn’t everything, but Resistance 2’s graphics aren’t even better than the first Gears of War, which came out 2 years ago. Sony fans can no longer sing the same song that goes something like, “Wait till the developers learn how to program for the PS3.” It’s been two years and for what supposedly is the most powerful console on the market, its games are embarrassingly underwhelming.
after watching that video I must say that watching 3rd person is much more intrestion then first person view.
Midnight items are done by the developers/console makers for MARKETING purposes. that is M$ shelling out more money for that to happen.
@CAD, “Resistance 2’s graphics aren’t even better than the first Gears of War”. Are you kidding me? The games are different. GOW is more intimate one one type of game. Small allies and buildings. R2 is about the larger scale.
Plus the Campaing graphics I’ve been seen are freaking amazing.
The graphics have not changed AT ALL from GOW1 to GOW2. They may have changed the color palette but that is it.
Anyways. No matter what one side says the other side will always argue against it anyways.
I am just glad that I have a game that I can play and truelly enjoy. The graphics are amazing and the gameplay is great and replayability is through the roof.
I’m sorry for xbots system. All games came out first time on xbots are good, legacy like #2 and so on all same concept prahics and same online and same story mode nothing new after #1. For rating u xbots fanboys read all reviews before u give your so called a good game 9.5 cuz I’ve been reading reviews there are no website give GOW2 9.5 facts it only got 8.8. Resist2 got 9.5 all over the Internet, just admit that all #2 and so on all sucks after #1 debuts on xbots no improvement what so ever.

Fall of mans 60 player online… Sounds like fun if the maps are big enough for the teams to get their act together. To many players on a small map sucks because its nothing but a spray and gernade fest… spawn and die. What fun is there crossing the street when 25 guns are pointing at you? Still if it has dynamic join or quit and is lag free with big maps.. sounds like fun. I cant imagine the wait for 59 people to ready up…. or waiting 15 minutes to start for the server to quit. But most important is it fun to play and not just watch.
