Restart a frozen iPod Touch or iPhone
Filed under: Electronics, Portable Media Players

From the moment the iPhone launched it has had problems in different forms, although some users have complained that the cell phone had more than it should thanks to bad firmware updates.
One common problem many users experience with not only the Apple iPhone, but also the iPod Touch and other iPod devices is freezing. Now how do you restart from a frozen iPod or iPhone?
This can happen for many reasons and it does not mean that your device has a serious problem; just like computers they crash sometimes. If your iPod or iPhone fails to respond to any commands you will need to restart it. This will not erase any of your data and should be a simple procedure.
One of the best guides we have seen is on Method Shop, it shows a restart for the Shuffle, iPhone and iPod Touch, iPod 4G+, and iPod 1G to 3G. You can view that here or view a video below.

It’s worth adding that if your iPod refuses to go into Disk Mode and you hear a noticeable clicking sound, it’s likely a faulty
hard drive. If the unit is a Fourth Gen, however, the problem might just be corrosion on the HDD cable and will need cleaned
periodically. Good luck & I hope this helps.
