
New worm attacking Windows after emergency patch
By: Peter Chubb | November 4, 2008 | Leave a CommentA new worm has surfaced which exploits the Microsoft bug that was meant to be fixed in a recent patch. The emergency patch was the one that was rushed out just 11 days ago, but seems to have a major flaw in it.
The attacking worm called Wecorl, which has been dubbed MS08-067.g, targets the Chinese-language versions of Windows 2000. The Worm is very much different to the Trojan horse that forced Microsoft to issue the patch on October 32.
The worm installs a number of components on victimized PCs, these include the ones affected with the Trojan downloader and rootkit code, this masks itself from security software. Read the full article
