Japan’s vehicle sales drop 13.1 percent in October
By: Daniel Chubb | November 4, 2008 | Leave a CommentFollowing on from the news yesterday that Ford Motor Co and General Motors Corp had seen massive drops in auto sales for October, today we are hearing that Japan’s vehicle sales have also dropped at a 13.1 percent decline.
While Japan’s auto sales hit 233,922 units, this was both a 13.1 percent drop and the third month in a row with no increase. This drop was not as large as some U.S. auto brands, but it does show that the bad economic conditions are reaching every corner of the planet.
This was Japan’s second lowest October ever recorded, but it was not all bad news. The Mini Vehicles Association has reported a 6.2 percent increase in the sales of mini vehicles for the same month, maybe a sign that smaller is cheaper and consumers are waking up to this.
