HTC are to start shipping their G1 Google Android powered cell phone in China. The phone is already available in China, but not officially. Unlocked G1 handsets have been selling by the bucket load, so it was only a matter of time before HTC decided to offer the phone officially to the Chinese market.
High Tech Computer will start shipping the G1 in China in the first half of 2009. China have not fallen in love with the Apple iPhone, but they have a fond love for the HTC G1, so once the phone is sold through official sources, G1 sales could reach the numbers that Google had hoped.
The HTC Touch 3G should be on sale as from today, with the Touch HD being made available at the end of this year. HTC are in a battle with Apple, and with the news of HTC’s top phones hitting the Chinese market, they are sure to take a huge lead.

Interesting the chinese population gravitates to the G1 Android rather than the iphone. I would venture to say that they are more apt to program or customize their phones themselves vs. here in America where the iphone apps are complete and they just need downloaded. The advantage of the G1 is the basic frame software can be absolutely tailored to how you will use the phone, business or personal. The applications of the Android Google phone will be more abundant in a year or two I believe.
