Google, Yahoo and the Justice Department
By: Daniel Chubb | November 4, 2008 | Leave a CommentWhen two massive names in any industry get together then it’s dealings will obviously be scrutinized by governing authorities, and this is just what’s happening with the online advertising industry and the Google / Yahoo partnership.
Today we are hearing that Google and Yahoo are significantly narrowing the scope of their advertising plans. These last-minute changes are directly aimed at getting the Justice Department to approve the deal.
Yahoo has been working on it’s own advertising projects for a while now but they see a deal with Google as the better way to go. This change would have an effect on competition and that’s just what the Justice Department is looking closely at.
The new advertising deal between Google and yahoo will see Adwords/Adsense ads next to Web search results on Yahoo, this will give both Yahoo and Google more revenue. The revised deal will see the partnership shorten to a 2-year contract. Press the read link below for more on the revised deal or leave a comment with your thoughts.
