T-Mobile G1 Google phone not an iPhone 3G killer
By: Peter Chubb | November 3, 2008 | 1 CommentThe technology department from Times Online had said a few days before the release of the T-Mobile G1 that the handset would not be an iPhone killer. Now that they have had a few days with the first Google Android powered handset, their views have stayed the same.
The Times do acknowledge that the G1 is a good Smartphone, and is in the same class as the Apple iPhone, but still has a few niggles that lets it down. Where the G1 wins over the iPhone is the choice of using the touch screen or the QWERTY keypad, great if you hate using a touch screen all of the time.
The trackball is also another great feature on the T-Mobile G1, which helps you to scroll through web pages on your Google Android handset. You can also zoom in and out on the G1, but it does not come close to how cool the pinch motion is on the iPhone. Overall the G1 is not as cool as the Apple iPhone, and is chunkier, giving it a cheap feel and look.
