Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 Review
By: Peter Chubb | November 3, 2008 | Leave a CommentThe Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 is a digital SLR camera which looks much the same as any other SLR camera, but it is what’s on the inside where it all matters. The G1 is a Micro FourThirds camera, this means that there is no mirror or optical viewfinder like you would find on a traditional D-SLR.
As there is no mirror Panasonic was able to shrink the dimensions of the Lumix DMC-G1 as well as its lens mount. The DMC-G1 is the smallest camera on the market which features interchangeable lenses.
Panasonic have had to find another to provide autofocus, as the G1 does not have a traditional AF sensor that is found on other D-SLRs. Panasonic have used the Live MOS sensor to help provide fast contrast detect AF on the G1.
