The T-Mobile G1 phone has been hampered by a few problems, which is why Google have distributed a patch for the handset. The update which was made available back on October 24 is now available for all, and the software installs smoothly with no hassles.
Owners of the handset will now get a message saying “A system update is available.” You will then be offered a choice to update it now or later. Once you download the patch, it will automatically install and within a few short minutes, you are able to resume using the phone.
The patch from Google fixes the problem with the Google Android web browser, as well as making a few other minor changes. A number of people have said that the glitch was a serious flaw, but it is great to see how quick Google were to respond to the glitch.

The G1 is POS. I just received my phone 3 days ago and it worked without any major glitches. This morning I saw the ‘update available option on my phone and chose to ‘update now’. Now the only thing this bulky black brick is good for is a paper weight, as it does nothing but power up and displays a large triangle with an exclamation point inside, hovering over what looks to be a dead G1 phone. I’m sending it back asap.
