Hands-on: SNK Arcade Classics Volume 1 for PS2

This is SNK’s Arcade Classics Volume 1 for the Playstation 2, and if you owned a Neo-Geo home system back in the 1990’s then you have been waiting for this collection of video games for a long time.

Arcade Classics Vol. 1 continues the tradition of budget priced compilation discs from SNK, and the first improvement many gamers will notice is the better menu screen.

Another welcomed improvement is the addition of new features and extras that can be unlocked when you complete each of the 16 games.

While the collection includes 16 games there are some that standout from the crowd and these include classics like Shock Troopers, Top Hunter, Last Resort, Samurai Shodown, King of Fighters 94, King of the Monsters, and Baseball Stars 2. These make the collection a worthwhile buy alone.

We did find some problems with King of the Monsters and Shock Troopers, they both suffered from noticeable slowdown when we were playing. Aside from these flaws we feel you get great value for money with SNK Arcade Classics Volume 1 (around £17 UK and $15 US).
