
Yahoo Zimbra to become hosted email service for education

This will be done in two ways; the first is by advertising-supported e-mail option and the second, as a paid-for service.
Currently the Zimbra email service runs two million mailboxes on college campuses, and are now about to become a hosted email service for education. Zimbra was acquired by Yahoo for $375 million a year ago.
Zimbra have managed to have 20 million mailboxes through a unique approach of getting their customers to install on-premises software. The company is now looking to increase their foothold in door in education institutions.
