Microsoft did file Windows Azure trademark application

Computer World claims that Microsoft did not neglect to register “Windows Azure,” they submitted a trademark application last Friday. Window Azure is the name of Microsoft’s new cloud performing platform.

Computer World has done a number of searches on the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office database, and has still failed to see any mention of “Windows Azure” or “Azure Services Platform.” A spokeswoman for Microsoft has said that the blame for that lies with the agency.

Windows Azure is a new software that is a cloud version of their operating system, which they hope will be able to compete with Amazon.com Inc.’s Elastic Compute Cloud. The new software will target developers who create software and online services.

    That’s correct. The Azure system is only for web developers.
