Netflix’s streaming video on Apple Mac via Silverlight
By: Peter Chubb | October 27, 2008 | Leave a CommentPC users have been using Netflix’s streaming video software for some time now, while Apple Mac users have had to sit back and watch. Well the technology is now available on Mac’s thanks to using Microsoft’s Silverlight.
The Microsoft software will allow Netfilx video to safely DRM their content via Redmond’s Play Ready. This has now released over 12,000 movies on computers other than a PC. Netflix has said that by using Silverlight, the software allows for better navigation, like fast-forward and rewind.
As yet Netflix has not given us a date as to when the new system will be rolled out, but hopefully it will be soon. The new software will only work on Intel-based Macs, so if you have a Mac running on something a bit older, then you are out of luck.
