Far Cry 2: Xbox 360 vs. Sony PS3 Video Comparison

So basically…

PS3 – Better Textures

360 – Better Framerate “the Xbox 360 is great keeping up with the fast action sequences.”

I couldn’t really tell much between them in terms of graphics, the only difference that really stood out for me is the additional load screen on the 360 version at about 2:20 into the video.

From what I’ve read in reviews the 360 has a lot of these little area load screens that break up the flow of the game, the PS3 by comparison has no load delays between areas…

you can run it at 1080 p on xbox 360 but only 720p on the ps3, other than tht they r identical

I would have said that the 360 looks like it has a slightly higher resolution – when the caracter looks at his watch / compass you can see the individual minute marks more clearly on the 360. This makes some of the images on the PS3 look slightly fuzzier. There are alos one or 2 scenes in the jungle where the range of colours seems to be slightly greater on the 360. But other than that I can’t see any difference, and none of the previous items would detract from the game play. I would say that you will enjoy the game regardless of what platform you get it on. Personally I will probably get it for the PC.

at 2:20 that is not a load screen. because he was sprinting after a short while your screen goes blurry.

Did any one actually watch this video? Did you not see that bad shadowing on the 360? Go to the near the end of the vid the jungle fight scene look at the shadows on the the guns from the leaves and the Shadows on the trees from the leaves. It looks like they have a web extension not to mention the shadow on the 360 gun pops.

I’ll even point it out. 2:00 you can even pause it. But check the leaf shadows on the wall of the building.

360 is better shaded AS ALWAYS

Well i like both consoles, both are good and put up a good performance. The 360 looks to me like it has a few small better qualities in far cry to it though.. For example at :28 you can see chairs and objects fully loaded in the hut on the 360, and chairs and other objects don’t fully appear untill :30 (2 seconds later) on the PS3. Both are timed exactly alike as you can tell from the subtitles coming on simultaneously. Also at :34 you can see that the people to the left look somewhat different. On the PS3 the man appears to have a single colored plain suit on while the man on the 360 has more detail as to designs and layers on his clothing. Also the man sitting on the ground looks kind of like a statue, while the man on the 360 looks a little better detailed and more human-like. But other than those few minor details, i’d say they look almost identical

PS3 is a better console.
Games like GTA4 wernt as good as they could be on the ps3 because they had to make it suitable for the Xbox 360 first, then put what they made on to both consoles.
this same thing is going to happen with Final Fantasy 13.
I read that someone from the company said it makes financial sense to make the game for both consoles, but the game wont be as good as it can be because of it.
Once the next Xbox comes out people will be able to see what the ps3 can do, But then the next Xbox will be better than the ps3 anyway, haha.

And one last thing.
Blu-Ray won, Xbox dosent have it.

HD-DVD…. Ha.

Things like smoother graphics like in this test arent because of the game, the console does that.

By the way, i only own a PC, I dont have any interest in buying a PS3 or Xbox 360.
Games are always going to be best on a PC.

Does anybody know which version plays best online? I imagine it will be the 360 I’ve been having a few problems with my PS3

the ps3 contains a multi-core processor with 7 processors on it running at 3.2Ghz. one is used for the OS. this leaves 6 for the game. The 360 contains 3 processors running at 3.2Ghz. As game developers usually port games from 360 to the ps3 the hasnt had the full capacity of its 6 processors used. In some cases only 3 of the processors are switched on for game usage (pes 08 which meant 360 = 60fps, ps3 = 30fps) Once developers start using the 6 processors etc to their potential then we shall see a graphical improvement in the ps3 system. One game where we see this is Killzone 2. Which doesnt compare to any 360 game i have seen yet. GOW 2 uses 2gb for its graphical interface – as a comparison Killzone 2 uses 2gb for \’each level\’ this obviously requires a huge amount of space. This is where blu-ray comes in. being able to hold 50gb is essential. Now a new blu-ray has been developed which will be ready for use in (hopefully) 2010. It can store 400gb and can be used on current blu-ray players, the same company is looking at developing another blu-ray disc with 1 terabyte of storage which will run on current blu-ray players also (hopefully ready for commercial use in 2012-13! I am looking forward to a game which uses the full potential of the ps3 and these new discs. The future of this console is looking good.

It looks like my grandma knitted the shadows on the X-360 version; it’s all stitchy. How is this not noticed by anyone? I noticed it because it seems to be a common issue with HDR lighting. Somehow the PS3 version managed to smooth that out though.

its due to polygon rendering differences within the graphical outputs of both systems. in this area the 360 is inferior.

While all the statements are true, there is a hitch, Stringy, and Bob.

Firstly, the PS3 hardware is not multicore in the traditional sense. Those are not seven CPU cores; the Cell is made of one PPE with seven sub SPEs, which are far less programmable or flexible; people just don’t acknowledge this difference enough.

It is the nature of this architecture that gives developers a hard time making use of the cell; the real purpose of the SPEs should be in aiding post-processing and other related shader-effects, which is why PS3 will always have amazing exclsives – Killzone 2, etc. However, multiplats and traditionally created games will generally be about the same on both machines. So long as people continue to compare the two machines spec of spec rather than realising that the PS3–as a whole–works more like a unified graphics system, these arguments won’t get anywhere.

Now can we please move on to the real subject: PS3′s niche as an exclusives console, because that’s where the system can win the market.

@bang dad your the biggest dick head that i’ve read a comment from you know shit about sony as well as 360 this consoles should be doing much better specialy when both have 512mb for specific task what you need to do is stop sucking ms balls sony will beat ms in the long run, is a shame that american developers are still strugleling with cell processor but even that ps3 have stud up to 360 potencial that remind me that top dev have meet with maxxed360 gpu get a life

yeah i know that the ps3 is more…betta (cant think of a betta word and i dont know how to spell beta!!) what i ment is bothe are good in 1 way and good in the other! but at the moment the only thing betta (!!!) on the 360 is x box live! but any body with eyes can see sonys psn is getting much betta (!!?) than when it startid! but any way i got my 360 arcade the other day and im going to go get far cry and compare it with my brothers ps3!

i have the ps3 far cry and i can say this! that vid looks nothing like my ps3! my chairs wer ther! and i do not see loading right before my eyes! somthing is going on here! who made that video! and i geuss that guy is right! multi plat games will look alot alike! but games made only for ps3 are amazing! like mgs4! or gt5! later on the true power will hopefully be used and we will see some high qwality gaming in the futer!

Firstly, tell your parents to use a condom next time, as you were clearly a mistake. It’s 220-192 ram – video and system, dedicated. Xbox 360 and PS3 are not the same. If you read my post, you’ll notice that I state that PS3 can do amazing things. These ‘multiplat’ titles are crap, and as a Sony-mother, you should do the company a favour and support more exclusives rather than shoddy multiplats.

To make it simple for you: I am on Sony’s side, you sick little ****! Take a reading class, and then take a TOEFL test, and please, PASS IT! It’s your duty as an American Citizen to know the language.

. . .and you’re right, Stringy, Far Cry 2 doesn’t play like that on the PS3. Devs used Cell and streaming, which made Far Cry 2 rather good, and perhaps, better on the PS3 than the Xbox 360. It’s one of those better multi-plats.

However, on the whole, multiplats will always limit the PS3 from doing some great things.

i own both xbox 360 and ps3 and bought this game on both consoles ….

ps3 version looked bettr…. and framerate on ps3 is much better than xbox 360 too.

however, xbox is awsome due to the selection of games…

i bought it first on ps3 and rented the second on xbox cos people were saying xbox 360 graphics look better than ps3

i found ps3 to have better framerate and graphics.

however, the textures were not that hugely different.

im a dedicated PS3 fan, but i do have to say on some games (e.g./need for speed shift…) XBOX 360 actually has amazing graphics compared to the ps3 versions, but in this case, PS3 has the better graphics, and framerate,
PS3 is the ultimate console because of its free internet and amazing features like blue-ray
XBOX, is crap with its HD DVD and expensive internet and cheap console.
XBOX is like the cheap mans console or the chavs console.
PS3 is a gamers, middleclass, super console

PS3 is just so much better than the 360, its got blue-ray an amzing proccessor and the internet is free, XBOX just has avatars and pointless microsoft points
