Cash strapped Ford may sell Volvo to BMW
By: Peter Chubb | October 27, 2008 | Leave a CommentCash strapped Ford may be selling Volvo to BMW, to try and rash some extra cash as they struggle to cope in this current climate. Sources close to BMW and Ford have said that talks have already got under way, although both auto giants have denied this.
Just two years ago Ford and BMW had discussion over collaboration with Jaguar and Land Rover, which Ford later sold to Tata Motors of India. Ford along with a number of other American auto makers are now feeling the financial strain following poor sales, which is having an effect on their share prices.
Ford along with GM and Chrysler have to lay off a number of staff due to poor their-quarter sales figures. A number of automakers are still doing very well in this current climate, BMW are just one of those, and seems to still have some deep pockets.
