T-Mobile HTC G1: Android Virtual Keyboard On Way
By: Daniel Chubb | October 24, 2008
Most T-Mobile HTC G1 buyers love the first cell phone built with the Android Open Source OS, although there are some complaints. The two main problems seem to be the G1 not sharing much battery juice and the lack of Virtual Keyboard in Android.
The latter G1 problem seems to have a solution on the way, if you look at the Android roadmap you will see that new additions in Q1 of 2009 should solve the software keyboard issue. It states that the Input method framework (IMF) will enable support for soft keyboards.
G1’s full QWERTY is pretty cool and after a little practice it’s easy to get use to the flush keys, but an option that means you do not have to slide open the G1 every time you want to put data in your device is good. This would give users the option of soft keyword typing and physical typing.
Would you want a virtual keyboard option on the G1?
