PlayStation Home already hacked: beta client decrypted

It was only a matter of time before it would happen, but it was much faster than many of us would have thought. Yes that’s right it seems as though PlayStation Home has already been hacked, which has shocked those at Sony.

Sony has had trouble in the past with their PSP getting hacked, but the PS3 has stood strong and a number of hackers have been looking at way to exploit the console. A well know PS3 hacker, StreetskaterFU has been able to decrypt the beta client for Sony’s PlayStation Home service.

This can allow developers to have a poke around at files and look for ways to exploit the in-game XMB functionality. This could then allow homebrew apps and game backups without the need for hard drive swapping.
