SMART multitouch table: Microsoft Surface for school kids

We were all exited when we first learned about the Microsoft Surface, the multitouch computer table. There was only one problem; it was a bit on the expensive side, so was only good for business use. Well thanks to SMART Technologies, they are launching their own version for school kids.

SMART Technologies will unveil the SMART Table today, which they call a primary education “interactive learning center. which could be called the Surface Jr. The new multitouch computer table will be launched in the spring of 2009, and will have a host of learning applications designed for children.

The SMART Table will feature custom lesson plans and will use gesture support, made easier with a wide viewing angle. The device is said to cost around $8,000, so most public schools will not be getting, as their budgets will no stretch that far.

  1. Marc says:

We purchased a smart table last week, and have had nothing but problems with ours.

We initially had issues with it crashing all the time, but now two sections of the table do not work at all.

We are very unhappy with our purchase.
