
Comcast Docsis 3.0 Internet service runs twice as fast
By: Peter Chubb | October 23, 2008 | Leave a CommentComcast is about to use new technology which will allow their Broadband Internet service to run twice as fast, meaning you will be able to download files much quicker. Customer will be able to take advantage of these new speeds, if they are willing to pay extra.
Comcast are saying that they are changing the experience for their users, buy revolutionizing what their customers can do on the Internet. One of their rivals, Verizon Communications Inc, said that Comcast are just catching up with our Verizon’s FIOS service.
Comcast’s broadband speeds are at 6 or 8 megabits per second, whereas Verizon’s basic FIOS service is around 10 megabits per second. Comcast’s new Internet service, called Docsis 3.0 will allow download speeds of up to 12 or 16 megabits.
