IFAW pressures eBay to ban ivory sales
By: Peter Chubb | October 22, 2008 | Leave a CommenteBay have been under constant pressure from the IFAW to ban sales of ivory products on the internet auction site. For those of you who are sick enough to want ivory items which are elephant-derived product, then you will have to look elsewhere.
As you know ivory is obtained mainly from the tusks of elephants, as a result these wonderful animals have been drove near to extinction. This has caused international outrage, which has lead to a worldwide ban on ivory trade.
The sad part is, there are still those who have ignored the ban and have still gone on to kill elephants for their ivory. With eBay selling at least 70 percent of all online ivory sales, this has to be one of the best moves that eBay has done. The ban will come in to affect after the holiday season.
