Intel is to launch a new website which has been aimed at developers of embedded devices, Intel hope that it will convince more companies to use their microprocessors. The new will be launched in early 2009, and is to include a range of tool to help engineers decide which of the Intel chips will be the best choice for a particular application.
The site will also offer discussion forums, where Intel engineers as well as other developers will be able to give advice and support. Intel are hoping that by 2015 demand for processors will exceed 15 billion units, and most of the chips will be in embedded applications.
Intel hope that the new website will persuade engineers to use their chips rather than that of their competitors. We are in a very tough market at the moment, and I worry that people will be looking at what cheaper options are available, rather than the quality and speed of the chip.
