Intel Clarksfield: mobile Nehalem chip begins production late 2009
By: Peter Chubb | October 21, 2008 | Leave a CommentIntel is preparing themselves for the production of their Clarksfield chip, the mobile version of their Nehalem chip. Rumors tell us that production of the chips will be late 2009, sometime after the second-quarter.
It is not known if production is for just a limited amount, or full a full production of these processors. Either way you look at it we have a long wait for the Intel Clarksfield, which is to use the same 45-nanometer production process that they use for their current processor range.
The new Clarksfield chips will be at the heart at Intel’s new Calpella, which forms part of their Centrino laptop chips. What makes these new chips so good, is how the processor is combines with the memory controller hub, this connects to the processor with the main memory with one piece of silicon.
