Last week was a terrible time for the stock market, and it has had a profound effect on the sales of games consoles in Japan. The game industry in Japan has had a disastrous week, as sales of all the top consoles are down, from DS Lite, PSP, Wii, Xbox 360, PS3 and PS2.
Sony Microsoft and Nintendo are hoping that these poor sales will not duplicate to the rest of the world, as they are set to enter in to the busy holiday season. If markets keep going the way they have, then Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft might have to do something drastic, cut the price of their consoles, in the hope of shifting more units.
Microsoft has already slashed the price of their Xbox 360, and Sony is still making a loss on their PS3. So where does that leave them, in a catch 22. The only hope that all three games consoles have is an improved stock market.
