Oracle and Microsoft Plug Security Holes
By: Peter Chubb | October 20, 2008
Both Oracle and Microsoft have been working hard to fix the security holes for users last Tuesday. Microsoft launched 11 updates, which were hoped to plug 20 security holes. Oracle released 36 updates to fix these security holes.
The patches from Microsoft were designed to help fix a number of vulnerabilities in Windows, Office, as well as a number of other products, including Internet Explorer. 11 of the flaws were critical; this is Microsoft’s highest level, eight were important, while just one was marked as moderate.
Out of Oracle’s 36 flaws, 11 of them were patched remotely. Oracle launches update every three months, whereas Microsoft’s launches updates every month. Both companies hope that these latest patches are enough to fix the security holes.
