LittleBigPlanet Sony PS3 new release date, October 27th

Following on from our story a few days ago, about the release of the Sony PS3 game LittleBigPlanet and that it would now be delayed. We now have the new release date for North America, which will be on October 27, just one week late.

The reason for the delay was due to a soundtrack issue, as it contained two phrases from the Qur’an. There has been a rough translation of the phrases, which means “Every soul shall have the taste of death” and “All that is on earth will perish.”

The recall of LittleBigPlanet was only for the European market at first, then had to be expanded to the rest of the world. Do you think that Sony was right to pull the game, would it have offended people?

Reluctantly, I think it was right for Sony to pull it. Such a shame though as I know so many people who were looking forward to this, including myself.
Is there any news on a new European release date? Can we assume that if the US is getting it a week late (27th), that we maybe too? I.e. 31st Oct?
Please put us out of misery and tell us Sony!

    well…
i think sony didnt really have a choice to pull the game but i dont understand why. the song itself was sung by a muslim man (ive heard it , it is quite an epic song) but i dont know how it could offend anywon?
if the song was mocking the Qu’ran then yes i would have to agree that it is not right but Mistakenly putting a song in your game which has 2 phrases….
anyway my planeteering shall have to wait :(

They previously admitted that they had a zero-day update ready to fix the problem (of course only people with an active internet connection for their PS3 would get it).

    Now ask the same question.

It’s fine by me. The delay gives me more time to play Resistance 2 Beta.

  5. Steve Rees says:

Well for once something being pulled for a religious reason seems to be right. Why on earth would any game want or need such rubbish involved in any part of it anyway.

If I found that a game belonging to my child had any religious muck in it that was not well advertised on the packaging, I would be suing for something.
