Little Big Planet (LBP): Sony PS3 world waits and your views

Currently the Sony PS3 world has to sit back and wait a little longer for Little Big Planet (LBP), as reported before, this was due to the offence LBP may cause to Muslims with a background music track that had two expressions apparently found in Qur’an.
While many gamers are reluctantly waiting, it does seem that it was the right thing for Sony to-do. We have also reported that LittleBigPlanet is only delayed by a week in the United States (27th of October).
Now we would presume that the European release date will be around a week late as well, although we have heard that a zero-day update was ready to fix the problem but this would only work with those that have their PS3 connected to the web.
We would love to hear your views about the Little Big Planet delay; do you feel it was right for Sony to pull it?

I’m not sure where I sit anymore. Personally, I definitely think it was a bad idea (simply because I have to wait longer to get the game and lost a day off work in the process). However, for a game with appealing to so many demographics, making sure they got the offending content out was key. Was it necessary that they forced a late-breaking recall and therefore delaying the game further? Or should they have issued the 0-day patch.
Here’s the thing, would Sony/LBP have gotten all the attention it’s been getting with this recall if only the patch was released? I seriously doubt it. And despite the fact that a bunch of people, and I mean a BUNCH, were more offended about the delay and the cause of the delay than the actual offensive material that started it all, they’ve probably earned it all back in terms of publicity. In other words, upset gamers desperately looking forward to this game outnumber the offended Muslims. And those Muslims, according to the letter which provoked Sony’s reaction, were quite satisfied (to their credit) with a patch.
Of course a flip side to this is that the Muslim community will most definitely see a backlash of hostility from much of the remaining gaming community, given their average level of maturity (not exactly high). This reaction could have done more harm than good as angry gamers start pointing fingers and blaming the evils of religion, etc. etc. … at least for people/society, not so much for Sony’s business which, again, is getting a lot of publicity from all of this as Sony “stepped up” doing the “right thing.” I’m just curious as to how much it cost them in terms of blue ray disks and printing compared to what real benefit all this attention is going to give them. Was it really worth it?
I disagree with the recall on many…many levels. Of course, this has to do with more world politics, than it does Sony’s business model. So, that could be a reason for the difference of opinion.
First and foremost, my beliefs are my own. Your beliefs are your own. As long as what you do, doesn’t interfere with my life. We’re good to go. Once you step in, and forcefully inject your religious (or any views for that matter) views into my world. That’s where things will most certainly fall apart. I do not care what God you believe in, I do not care what your government believes in. I’m a sentient being, capable of performing thought on my own. And having someone step in, and make decisions for me, is plain insulting.
Additionally, this whole sensitivity towards Islam, is getting absolutely absurd, and will no doubt cause another series of embassy burnings, and rioting, when the next ‘hot topic Muslim beef’ doesn’t receive the same reaction. Anyone remember the caricatures of Mohammed? I’m sure Denmark does.
So, a few points i’d like to make, if the ESRB had gotten this game back, and knew fully well about the two verses. Would the rating be changed?
Why was there no move from Sony to alter Resistance:Fall of Man, when the Church of England (an admittedly larger constituency than….the LBP playing muslims of the world), requested that Manchester Abbey, be removed from one of the levels?
Why is Sony going forward with ‘Fat Princess’ even though many many many overweight females have voiced opposition to the game.
Did Sony weigh the environmental impact, of tossing several million blu-ray discs, before making this decision? When does a small hardcore minority of a religious sect, take the back seat to a more important environmental concern?
Lastly, when did it become ok for an individual, who obtained a copy of a game, early, to complain about said game? This person, had a retail copy of the game, and was playing it with his friends…no less than 5 days prior to launch. How did he get this? How did his friends get this? What would’ve happened, had the game just launch…as normal, without people who can’t follow rules, ruining everyone elses fun?
Go ahead, patch the game, remove the ‘offensive’ content. But, the person who sent to complaint should be banned from the PSN for life, for illegally obtaining a copy of a full version of a game, before it’s launch, and ultimately leading to it’s delay to the rest of the world. And remember…the majority of the world, nor the majority of PS3 owners, are Muslim. They need to understand, and appreciate that things aren’t always going to go their way.

Like the same “backlash of hostility” the delay is trying to prevent? Lets be honest here and stop playing high-and-mighty political correctness games. Who should be afraid of who here? Lets not make this “innocent” Muslim community (who’s responsible for this latest ban) out to be the victims here. There is things in the world which we may not like or agree with.. DEAL WITH IT! This is nothing more than Sharia law imposed on the west (once again).
lisen im realy confused when dous it come out in urope is it the 31 of october the 1st of november or the 3rd of november anyway looks like best game ever too bad about quran quotes i under stand thogh hope its not too lng til its out
rock on little big planet looks sick
When it comes down to it. It all goes back to the cartoons of Mohammad by the Danish newspaper. The western wold is now living in fear and does not wish to see more bloodshed and burning, nor does anyone in particular wish to be the cause of it (Sony). But in the end, one must ask themself, Is it better to be loved or feared?
Think about it.
help help i love little big planet someone give me the date it comes out in europe please
so if these “offensive words” were in English then there would be no problem. and when i read what they translated to, it did not offend me. i mean in most of todays games you are killing people and stealing and robbing, but words i guess are more offensive. muslims are great
