Intel Moorestown MID working prototype or is it?
Filed under: Computers, Portable Computers & Tablets

For just over a year now we have been staring in amazement at the new Intel Moorestown MID, although we have only been able to see mockups of the Mobile Internet Device. The mockup was a dummy, with no guts in it; all it had was a glossy screen and a backlight just to give you an idea of the concept.
A working prototype of the Moorestown hit the stage at Intel’s Taipei, Developer Forum. The new device uses a 45nm processor, graphics; memory controllers as well as video encode/decode functions all on to a single tiny chip.
It seems like we have been tricked, the device on show was no a working prototype, instead it was a validation board running fresh from the factory The Intel Moorestown MIDs, should hopefully hit stores in 2009 or 2010, which is a big window. It should be worth the wait though.
