With so many web browsers to choose from today, we for once have a good choice and more options that do a good job than before. Today we have enjoyed an article that shows a detailed test of Firefox 3.1 Beta vs Google Chrome, IE 8 beta 2, and Safari 3.1.2.

The download blog has some nice stats showing how well Firefox 3.1 Beta performed during a SunSpider speed test; you can see the full report by hitting the read link below this post.

Google Chrome came first initially with Google’s JavaScript speed test on Firefox 3.0.1 and the initial Chrome beta, then Stephen Shankland from the Download Blog run the test with Firefox and TraceMonkey JavaScript engine enabled. This test was run using the SunSpider speed test.

These results showed Chrome was second at 2,904 and Firefox led with a score of 2,257 (smaller score is best for SunSpider). Hit the read link to get the full story with graphs.

chrome is fast but if you have a fast computer firefox is still the best.
what i would do though is have the search build in to the URI nav bar like chrome. thats a major difference

They should have also tested Safari (Webkit Nightly) which contains SquirrelFish Extreme to see how it does compare to Tracemonkey and V8. I think IE is just out of competition because it lacks speed.
