BBC iPlayer Coming to Sky: On Demand TV Needed
By: Daniel Chubb | October 20, 2008 | Leave a CommentIt’s a simple deal between the BBC iPlayer and Sky, which will see Sky’s web service link to BBC iPlayer shows. Now who uses Sky’s on demand web service anyway?
Sky need to get their head out of the sand and start using on demand TV on Sky+ and HD boxes, having used Sky personally for many months and BT’s on demand service I can report that Sky does things best overall but lack massively with on demand TV.
The latest Sky TV boxes have an Ethernet port so you can connect them to the web, but currently this is not in use. The users want it and the hardware is there to start using on-demand directly with the Skybox and not with your computer and their web service.
If we see a version of iPlayer on Sky set-top boxes then this will be a much better deal or Sky’s on demand content on the Sky boxes. For now we just have to wait for the investment or the big boys to get their thinking cap on. Hit the read link below for more details on the not so exciting deal.
