Microsoft say Xbox 360 can handle MGS4

The boss over at Xbox Live has been saying that he would love to see MGS4 on the Xbox 360. We covered a story yesterday, which said that Konami’s Yoshitaka Arai was working on trying to bring the Metal Gear Solid series to the Xbox 360 console.

This news has caused a huge stir in the gaming world, and for once, all for the right reasons. John Schappert, has said that the games console can certainly handle MGS4, and has been full of praise for Kojima-san’s masterpiece.

There is nothing worse than having such a great game like Metal Gear Solid 4, only available for the Sony PS3. Gamers worldwide have been campaigning for the game to makes its way to the Xbox 360. Are you one of those who would like to see MGS4 on the Microsoft Xbox 360?

Per Kojima, it doesn’t matter whether it can handle it or not. It’s a PS3 exclusive. Kojima Studios is in charge of it’s IP. Not Konami.

they shouldn’t make metal gear solid4 for 360 it was made for ps3 360 cant handle its graphics and gameplay the 360 will probley explode trying to get threw the first level 360 SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Less cutscenes, more game!

  4. Mornelithe says:

Less Cutscenes = Not what Kojima wanted. It also means that less of the overall MG plot, is left unanswered, and purists of the series would go ballistic.

Ok, not less cutscenes - because these are very impressive - but less detail and shorter cutscenes that don’t interrupt or imo cripple the action. Kojima said he’d address these things if he had his time again on the game, so I’m not on my own.

It’s an impressive and excellent game but I feel the overlong cutscenes and unnecessary detail do hamper it. Sometimes I go to play it but then play something else in case I’m treated to another 2 hour cutscene with only 15mins play in between. Skipping the cut scenes isn’t the answer either as I’ll miss out on the important information buried in all that detail that makes the story line make sense.

They can do it. As I understand it on the PS3 after each act there is a 15 minute installation process so if one act were put on a single DVD for 5 discs all the player would have to do is switch out a disc to continue which I think would take far less time than waiting for the install on the PS3. Heck if they had to put the multiplayer on another separate disc for 6 disks. I don’t know why game creators seem to be so afraid to use more than one disc. Use one for the campaign and another for the multiplayer.

It appears that Sony is not the rightful owner of MGS series. For example MS has all rights to Halo, so there is no way it can be put on another platform. But Konami is the rightful owner of MGS series. I’m sure they will lose a big bonus check from Sony if they put it out for Xbox 360. The question here is which way is gonna make more money. It’s all about the Benjamin’s…..

  9. TJ Spyke says:

Morne, you are 100% wrong. Kojima Productions are the developers, but Konami owns (and always has owned) the IP. Take the Halo series for example, it’s owned by Microsoft (not Bungie). Even if Kojima Productions didn’t want to make a Xbox 360 version, they would not have a choice.

Does it really matter what console the game is on. Seriously, get a phucking life. There is no reason the 360 couldn’t handle MGS4 either. It’s a game… or a movie… or a movie with interactive cut-scenes or something of the sort… but I’m sure there is a game in there somewhere and I enjoyed it on PS3 but I’ll be happy to see it get more attention on the 360 whether or not it comes on 3 discs or 6 discs. To the real point: Why does everybody get so pissed off when “game company x” reveals “Game X” is going to “Console X” instead of or in addition to “Console Y.” Citing loyalty is a stupid reason also. It isn’t that “Game company X” was loyal to the previous iterations of “Console Y.” There just wasn’t anymoney to be made by porting over the game if the install base wasn’t there. I’m sure MGS3 didn’t get ported to the original X-box because 2 didn’t to so hot when it was ported. Since the PS3’s install base is less than the 360’s and the games attach rate is also higher than either of the other consoles, Konami wouldn’t want to miss an opportunity to make a some more money off of their highest profile game.
