PSA/Peugeot-Citroen have seen the great results that Renault are having with their entry-level car for the emerging markets, so have decided to work on one also. PSA/Peugeot-Citroen is hoping to have the low-cost car ready for the emerging market by 2011.
The Renault Logan has been selling very well in markets such as Romania and Russia, which is why PSA have registered their interest. The new passenger vehicle from PSA will have five doors and will be assembled in Poland or Turkey.
The PSA entry-level car will then be sold to markets in eastern and central Europe, Russia, Turkey, and North Africa. These cars will be wearing both Citroen and Peugeot badges. If the project proves a success, then the cars will move to other markets, such as China and South America.
