Xbox 360 Blu-ray: Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg insists no again

Since the death of the HD DVD format and the fact that Blu-ray was the victorious winner, there have been a huge amount of rumors that the Xbox 360 is to get a Blu-ray player. The answer back then from Microsoft was that there was no truth in those rumors.

The rumors have surfaced yet again, and still the answer from Microsoft remains the same. Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg decided to hit back at all the rumors and still insists no, Blu-ray will not be coming to the Xbox 360.

Greenberg did have a dig at Sony, saying that they do not expect people to pay for something that they do not need. Microsoft are still standing firm and say that their future is with providing online digital distribution.

If the future is providing digital downlaods then why doesn’t microsoft provide hard drives with all their systems and then charge ridiculous prices for the hdd add on. Come on, they obviously want blu ray to fail and keep feeding consumers bullshit.
Micrshit is still selling a $199 arcade system without a hhd. Wait a minute, maybe they’re selling it because they know peoples 3 year warranties are gonna expire soon so it’ll be cheaper for them to replace their fried xboxes, LoL….

The Arcade unit was released for those who don’t want to multiplay online or download movies or such, the Arcade was built for those who are more laid back, who would go to the Red-Box or such for movies, and not compelled to ’show their stuff’ when they are suited just fine. Digital Distribution would deem better than blu-ray, because you could get the same picture quality without spending at least $30 for a new movie, don’t have to worry about collection of discs piling up, DD will always be available where eventually the blu-ray format will be obsolete. And you can’t complain about the space issue with the 360 where every single PS3 game has mandatory installs of at least 2gigs, so the early adopters of the 20gigs are screwed where the 360 may be getting installs later on, its optional for most games.

Microsoft is not carrying along the gamers in Africa with such an announcement.Internet penetration and infrastructure is weak at best in most parts and if DLC were to rule then most of us gamers in Africa would have to call it a day.
