Verizon RIM BlackBerry Storm delayed to fix bugs
October 13, 2008 | Filed under Cell Phones, Handsets

We have learned that the RIM BlackBerry Storm release has been delayed. Verizon Wireless customers have learned that the new Blackberry phone from RIM has just entered technical acceptance.
The whole process should take about four weeks, in that time a number of bugs will have to be fixed before it is ready for an official launch date. So when taking these factors in to consideration, we should be looking at a launch of mid-November.
Well this delay of the Blackberry Storm make you think about purchasing a different phone, or do you not mind waiting around another four weeks before you get your hands on RIM’s latest offering.

Sure, I’ll wait a few weeks for the Storm, because it’s gonna kick the Iphone’s butt. Great touchscreen, great browser, and it will actually get good reception because it’s on Verizon’s network. Verizon’s network is so good, you don’t need wifi. Looking forward to the Storm!
How can you say this is delayed when an official release date hasn’t been announced yet? The phone was only just announced, and as usual will take 4-6weeks before it is available.
Are yo really posting this Today. Mid-November has been the expected release date for the last month. You must be trying to drum up traffic. This is not a delay its the actual release time table.
This is classic Verizon. They always do this. I’ve been a Verizon customer for 8 years now and the one thing that has always bothered me is the fact they always postpone dates and never compete when it comes to the latest in mobile technology. Verizon has a real chance to win over a new customer base and another delay hurts them. I think I’ve had about enough of this and will switch to AT&T. First the Blackberry Bold and now the Storm. Can someone tell RIM and Verizon to get their act together? All the hype just to be smashed by another delay. Thanks again Versizon.
Do you guys bother reading the source(s) that you quote?. You are quoting Phones Reviews as your source which actually took their article from Boy Genius Report and BGR had posted this on September 4th. For gods sakes, this is old news. Even after those delays we are looking at first week of November.
Last week of October Verizon will be having small groups of “invite only” to show off the new phone, these people will get vouchers to ensure they get one the first week in November.
Its definately worth waiting and it will live up to its developers code name of “the iphone killer” RIM has never released anything as buggy as Apple has and Verizon wants to make sure it doesn’t end up will glitches like AT&T did with the first iphone.
You can’t even begin to describe the tactile until you feel it for yourself, its completely different than anything you’ve known before, forget about any touch screen you’ve seen or used before, its a completely different animal.
Battery life is RIM legendary and hands down beats the iphone, 15 days on standby, 5.5 hours continuous talk time, for the iphone to do this you’d need a pocket nuclear reactor as the iphone is a power sucker.
The 3.2MP camera that shoots video at half VGA is pretty amazing as well, the fact that it comes with a GB onboard and a 8GB SD stick is amazing and yet they give you the ability to pop in a 16GB if you wish with 32GB OS update to be released Q1 2009 there isn’t going to be a space issue.
You can swap batteries and memory easily and you can’t do that with an iphone.
Although WiFi isn’t included the 3G network is more than ample, every try using an iphone to surf WiFi? I can tell you that if you get 2 hours out of an iphone you’re ahead of the game, Apples WiFi in all devices has always been subpar and battery management has never been there from the iphones conception.
The Storm indeed will be an iphone killer and just in time for the holidays RIM couldn’t have planned it better.
@ Kevin,
Are you serious? You do realize that AT&T is the one that has delayed the Bold release and not Verizon.
Since when did blogs gain the same notoriety as the real Press? Anywho, all signs are pointing to the first week of November. There was even an ad in the Wall Street Journal and other papers today saying “Coming Soon.” Please check your sources’ dates.
This is not looking good for RIM. What are they doing?

iJah420 says if they are having issues (”UK”) what can we expect when it comes to USA?
iJah420 says Not a good sign.
Jeffro, nice post. Battery life is the most important thing for me. What good is a product with all the bells and whistles if you can only get a few hours of usage out of it!? Just about every Storm article I’ve seen in the past couple of weeks mentions the great battery life. As for the release date, I visited a local VZW store this weekend and was told by a rep the same thing; that the release date’s been pushed back. He couldn’t (or wouldn’t) tell me when it would be released. BlackBerry and Verizon want to make sure that all of the kinks are out. I don’t mind waiting as anything worth having’s worth waiting for, right? It would be nice if they were adding to it! Like a video calling camera on the front of the phone. That would be nice!
