Nintendo Wii Fit half a year on: how’s your weight?
October 13, 2008 | Filed under Gaming, Nintendo Wii

Half a year ago you were not getting any exercise, and you could not afford to keep paying out for the monthly bills at your local gym. Thankfully Nintendo had the perfect solution, the Wii Fit. The idea of having the balance board and a personal trainer in your own home was appealing.
It has been half a year and I just wondered how your weight was going. Have you lost the amount of weight that you had hoped, and have you increased your fitness level. The Nintendo Wii Fit promised to be our savior for our health, but has it lived up to all the hype.
I started to use the Wii Fit for about 6 weeks, almost every day, but I have to admit, the Balance Board is now collecting dust in the corner of my living room. The Nintendo Wii Fit is like all other gadgets, you enjoy them for a few weeks and then you get bored with them. I am not saying that the Wii Fit is not good; it is a fantastic thing to have. I am just letting you know that I am one of the lazy ones.
How is your weight doing after half a year with the Nintendo Wii Fit?

got my wii fit not long after launch and i still use it and am doing well. Turns out i was underweight to begin with but doing a lot of muscle excersises at least twice a week has me at a BMI of 21 now (22 is perfect). I am a lot more toned now and stronger and fitter.
recently my mum got a wii and wiifit after seeing me and my girlfriend using it. my dad hates it though lol.
after a month of wii fit i did put it away for a whole month befor getting it out again but then found a routine i could stick to and i am definately feeling the benifits now. there are about 14 excercises that i use all the time, mostly muscle workouts, and aerobics and some minigames… the rest i ignore. my girlfriend loves the yoga training and she’s a lot more flexible now so were both enjoying that.
the thing with wii fit is you really have to want to work for it before it will work. just like any training, it takes personal effort.
Wii Fit started me on my health kick 6 months ago and I’m down from 215 to 185 lbs and looking/feeling much better. I think the most important aspect of Wii Fit is the psychological affect of tracking your weight throughout the week. I will admit the look of my obese Wii had an affect too especially compared to the rest of my family who were normal weight. I looked like this potbelly pig with two twigs to the left and right of me in the Wii Fit Plaza.
I used it pretty much daily the first three months although now by habit is doing the strength exercises + 1 aerobic exercise two to three times a week. I basically do the three challenges around pushups, jackknives, & plank plus the boxing routine. It takes about 20 minutes. Again, tracking your weight is probably the most affective weight loss tool from Wii Fit though.
Just a little tip for you all…
It’s best to play with the Wii Fit on a solid floor rather than a carpet to give better results
