If Exclusives Matter: Own an Xbox 360 and Sony PS3

The topic of Exclusive Games is one that many gamers have different opinions on, but if exclusives really matter and you have the money, then why not own an Xbox 360 and Sony PS3.

Some say that exclusivity is only beneficial to the games console maker and what it costs to produce a game for both consoles rather than one is nothing, compared to the revenue generated.

While this may be true, exclusive games can be better to play, because the developer can devote full resources to getting the most from the system. Not to mention bug fixes.

Halo 3 helped sell over a million Xbox 360’s and MGS4 helped sell PS3’s in hundreds of thousands. With this in mind, why not buy both games systems and benefit from the great exclusive games. Once you have paid for the extra console, buying a game on either system costs around the same.

You have a good point but the kind of fanboys who lurk around this site and others wouldn’t dream of buying the “opposition brand” console, it’s kind of like a religion to them. I only own a 360 right now as i’m not a fan of MGS and LBP as pretty as it is doesn’t really do anything for me, my real passion is for free roaming sandbox games like the GTA series, Saints Row, Crackdown etc. Also multiplayer sports games like Soccer and Tennis. Right now the 360 has my gaming covered but i wouldn’t hesitate to get a PS3 some time in the future if say they came out with some exclusive sandbox games or something else i found to be original or compelling to me. Guess that make me a console atheist.

    Tony;

Have you heard of “inFAMOUS”? Maybe you should read up on it.

    Thanks Nynja,

Just read up on it, sounds interesting i’ll keep an eye out for it.

Nynja - Infamous is just another Crackdown type game. There is nothing insanely special about it, it’s just Sony hype. These games are fun for a while but they don’t hold interest for long.

This article doesnt make much sence.

“Once you have paid for the extra console, buying a game on either system costs around the same.” Ummmm….Not really, there are many more exlusives on 360 then PS3 so realisticly you could spend 3 or 4 times as much for 360 games then PS3 if you got both. If this is the case then you need to think why you would spend $500 dollars on a PS3 to play 3 or 4 exclusive games when you could spend $200 dollars on a 360 to play 20 exclusives ? If you spend 300 less on a 360 then that gets you 5 more 60 dollar exlusives.

I’m not counting online crap , DVD or Blu Ray or anything, I’m talking straight up game systems. You don’t need a Hard Drive to play any of these games.

It all comes down to what games people want to play and if they are willing to spend to the money to play that game.

I have all 3 and I favor 360 right now because I like online multiplayer games and 360 seves the best variety. MGS4 doesn’t do much for me although it was a great game. I know people that are the opposite. I’m sure i’ll be all over my PS3 when God of War 3 comes out.

To that last comment, I want 2 say, first off: Infamous is not out yet, u can’t say it’s another Crackdown…2nd, PS3 is not no $500 console. In fact it’s the same price as the Xbox-Elite ($399). In your post I noticed that u talked about spending money on games…actually, if u purchase a 360, $199, $299 or $399, a consumer must consider paying up $50+ for the Live service. I own both console by the way, n I think u can agree with me, n the long run u will no doubt come out more $$$ owning a 360. On the exclusive side, after a rough start 4 Sony, they’ve finally gotten an opportunity, at the right time 2 release some great exclusives. Purchasing both 4 exclusives…well…it’s the logical thing 2 do, but it’s also expensive.

Yeah, the truth is that 360 is the way to go if you want games, exclusives or not.
If you want bluray, then go for a PS3 as well, but as far as games 360 dominates the logic. Multiplatform games run better on 360, plus it has far more exclusives, at a much lower price; and not just the console itself, many of its exclusive games are less than 60 bux.

360 wins in the value arena as far as games go everytime.

Articles like these are attempts to make PS3 look like its in the same legue with 360, when in reality PS3 is not even worth buying unless you want bluray.

Chicago 8506 - Clearly you didn’t read my whole post since I said “I’m not counting online crap , DVD or Blu Ray or anything, I’m talking straight up game systems. You don’t need a Hard Drive to play any of these games.”

Clearly you will NOT spend more on a 360 because you do NOT need a hard drive or internet to play games. If you are that freakin stupid to realize that then all you have to do is see who is winning the console war….Wii. No hard drive, no online multiplayer and not even HD graphics.

Wii - over 30 million Sold
    360 - 21 million Sold
    PS3 - 16 million sold

It’s obvious that the world doesn’t want Blu Ray , HD and Hard Drives crammed down their throats. Xbox 360 at least gives people a choice.

I have to agree, the Xbox 360 is the best value out there. $199.99 is an amazing price for the arcade bundle. That is $50 cheaper than the Wii, and the Wii doesn’t nearly compare to the 360 in terms of number of games (600 vs 275), graphics (duh, not even close), online, multi-media features, etc.

I own the 360 and the PS3 (not the Wii, though) and I strongly feel that the 360 is the better game console overall. Better price, much better game library and better online service. So I agree, let’s not act like the two consoles are somehow equal in the number of exclusives. It’s not even close.
