Xbox 360 Experience vs PlayStation 3 Home: virtual worlds collide

The biggest news in console virtual worlds has been the Sony PlayStation 3’s HOME or it may have seemed this way. Now that Microsoft has been marketing their own virtual world (Xbox 360 Experience), it looks like these worlds are about to collide.

This battle for gaming supremacy has moved on into the virtual world for not only gaming, but also new movie releases and more in a virtual way. In the new Xbox Experience, users will be able to hold virtual parties, download movies, play games, meet other gamers in virtual environments, and create avatars.

With Sony’s HOME, users will be able to attend virtual social events, watch new movies in virtual theatres, view television, play games, and also use the 3D universe to have your own virtual apartment where you can furnish and decorate it.

Which of these virtual worlds will be better? Time will give us this answer, and as the past shows us, launching first does not make you the winner.

Who gives a damn? I buy my consoles to play games, not to play with the avatars, if they each add some features that help you hook up to online games then all well and good but otherwise i couldn’t really care less, but then i’m not a 12 year old girl or a dumb fanboy so maybe i’m not the target audience for this.

Sony and its deep virtual world of Sony Home looks to be lame. Correct me if Im wrong but you have to walk around some shopping mall? or walk to your appartment? Maybe the japanese gamers with their love of the RPG will eat this up… But im from North America and want my stuff to be one click away. So If Microsoft keeps it clean and simple with 3D avitars, thats fine. But dont forget that its a OS and not a game. Do not stick me in a game that I cant sell or return.

Haha, I just use my consoles to play games, I can use my PC to do everything else!

Well. In touch with what the article is about. The winner will be relative to each person. Those whole like a TRUE 3D world experience will love PS3 Home. Those who like that a more simple interface they will like the Xbox Experience.

But please remember that HOME is OPTIONAL. You don’t have to use if don’t want to. You can still launch games, download movies and trailers with having to use to HOME. Home is an option for the users.

That is what I like. I like to have OPTIONS.

In Home you don’t have to “walk to your apartment”, you can just click and appear there. Personally, I like the idea of Home better, but I will probably get an xbox 360 later too, not for xbox 360 experience, but because I want to play some games that exclusive to the xbox. Yes people, exclusives do matter.

ps3 is gonna be well kool HOME is gonna be sick you can go in pubs, play arcade machines, play snooker with a mate, play bowling with a mate there may even make home better by adding tennis courts, baseball stadiums, football stadiums and make it easier to play these game with simple controls sometimes u can play with a friend that maybe living in a diffrent country like brazil, japan etc. everywhere it would be better in a virtual world then in a party or something like that so HOME will be availiable everywhere + for adults there will be x-rated places in HOME as well.
+There will be tons of ps3 exclusives out there in the future did u know this is just the beginning of the ps3 console 2 years already passed but x-box 360 been out here for longer around 3 years so dont rely on the 360 you havnt seen the FULL ps3 experence yet!!!!

As usual Sony and Nintendo have good ideas, whereas Microsoft is just a parasitic copycat.

Meh, i guess its a bonus, wouldn’t effect me much i guess..

I agree with Daryl more plagiarism from Microsoft.

I also agree with Daryl, Sony has has great ideas and brought us great technology: Blu ray, Sixaxis, WiFi, Internal powerblock, Bluetooth, (built in CHARGEABLE) wireless light controllers, Home, Motion sensitive eyetoy, other OS, list goes on. Its even funny how they even copied the Playstation controller, moved the joystick, and made it fatter…haha! If they were half as smart as the Japanese Companies, they would hire better engineers and put better hardware in the 360. Now they are trying to get the rights from Sony to use Blu ray on their next generation sh*t console. Years from now !!

how is microsoft copy cat Daryl look at all the same features sony put on the 360. Playstation store. The button in the middle that brings you to the dashboard. and so many more things so dont give that bs.

I honestly might switch over to PS3. Home sounds more interactive and fun. By the sound of xbox’s target audience who seem to be present here, I’d be willing to bet that Xbox doesn’t upgrade Experience (cloths aside), keeping it simple and wanting; like it is now in my opinion.
