GM and Chrysler in Merger talks: would stock strengthen

The No.1 and No.3 biggest automakers in America, GM and Chrysler have held talks about a possible merger. This idea of a merger comes at a time when both companies are struggling to try and cut costs and try to shore up some cash.
General Motors are also considering approaching the U.S. Federal Reserve for a loan from its discount window; this is a direct result of the current finical turmoil in the stock market. It seems as if GM is not able to borrow money from other kinds of credit markets.
The move by GM comes as their shares hit new kinds of lows, there sales in the U.S. have also hit a 15-year low. The automaker has been facing from tough questions from their investors, the tough question now is, has GM have enough money to raise the storm out. Would a merger like this help to strengthen their stock
