Porsche Panamera with Targa top and Diesel engine

The upcoming Porsche Panamera has been met with a mixed response; many people are holding off on their judgment until the launch of the car. Then again if you look at the Cayenne, that car was not loved at first, but now look how good the car has been for Porsche.

Porsche are hoping that they can replicate this success with the Panamera, but they have a couple of ideas that could go either way for the German automaker. The first idea is giving one a diesel engine, and the other is having a targa top styled roof.

This is a huge gamble for Porsche, but having a diesel engine does make sense as people look for more fuel efficient cars. We will have to wait until March 3009 for the Geneva Motor Show, when Porsche will have a Panamera on show.
