Hands on with the Coosh headset for iPods and iPhones

Over the years I have had a number of headphones/headsets and earphones, but the trouble I have is with narrow canals. This was a problem a few years back when earphones were all the rage, as they only came in one size.

Now there is a different kind of earphone, these come with different size grommets, ideal for different size canals. However I still have a problem with that, I hate the idea of shoving something that far in my ear which is how it stays snug and tight.

Thankfully there is another way, and Coosh seems to be on to a bit of a winner with their headset. When I first opened the box I had to have a laugh, the big ear that it came displayed in is a bit on the large side.

The first thing that I liked about the Coosh headset was its flexible silicone ear rings, so the earphone just sits in your ear and the ring keeps the headphones from falling out. Coosh say that these earphones are “Designed for extreme comfort and a natural fit”, so here we go let’s give them a try. The silicone rings do detach, if you just want to have a normal set of earphones in.

Putting them in is an easy task, made easier with the silicone rings. No matter how much jumping about I do, the things just won’t fall out. I have been walking, running and jumping now, and the headset has not moved.

So now it comes to the sound test, so what do I play, I know Black Eyed Peas, My Humps. That song has a decent amount of bass so I can see if they distort. Ok when I set my iPod at a decent level, half way or just over things seem fine. Now it’s time to turn things up a bit, the sound stays clear for the most part, but it seems to lack a bit of bass. That is not much of a problem as I never have my music that loud anyway.

The headphones comes with an inline mic, so you can push to answer calls, the button also doubles as a mute button. You are able to switch back and forth between music and phone calls.
Overall for the price at just $19.99, the Coosh headset is worth that easily. Another added bonus that I did not realize is not only is this headset great for the Apple iPod, but they also work in the old and new iPhone.
