Wait for Blackberry Storm Release Date or Go Bold

Wait for Blackberry Storm Release Date or Go Bold

By: Peter Chubb | October 9, 2008 | 17 Comments

RIM have left people with a huge dilemma, do you go and get the Blackberry Bold this month, or do you hang on until next month to get your hands on the Blackberry Storm. The Blackberry Bold has a release date of October 26, while the Storm has no official release date but is expected some time in November.

The Blackberry Storm offers you a 3.2 megapixel camera, with zoom, flash and autofocus functions. That is just for starters, what about the fact that it is the first Blackberry with a touch screen. It certainly looks like RIM have been working hard.

The there is the Blackberry Bold, this comes with just a 2 mega pixel camera, but then again so does the Apple iPhone. The handset can also geotag your photographs, and has a GPS function that is simple to use.

Make your choice the Blackberry Storm or Bold.

Joey, not having 3G on a superior phone like this doesn’t bother you at all?

Also, this is for product-reviews… What source gave you information about the relase date of the Bold being 10-26? Is it the Best Buy picture leak? Because from my understanding Best Buy will have the Bold ready atleast a week after AT&T starts selling it.

  • Jo Mama

I talked to AT&T wireless and their customer service told me the bold is coming on October 26 – but they told me it is tentative as to not get everybody’s hopes up.

The last I heard is that Verizon CS has no idea when they are releasing the Storm, but reports are saying by November 4th.

I am on a 30 day trial with Sprint using the BB Curve 8330 which is great, but I have also liked the iPhone 3g. If I could have the look and feel of the iPhone, but the functionality of the Blackberry, then I would take it in a heart beat. Well, that look and feel plus functionality seem like they will be right there in the Blackberry Storm. So, I am eagerly looking to cancel my sprint contract and go with Verizon and their Storm (however I do plan to at least go to AT&T and play with the Bold for a little bit)

“Joey, not having 3G on a superior phone like this doesn’t bother you at all?”

umm have you ever been on verizon’s data network?

its like way faster then at&t’s 3g sorry =(

  • Bob Middlebury

Borkov must be an iboy, for the real world, 3g has been around forever, and att finally decided maybe they should have it like all the other companies. Storm is 3G from the specs on blackberry.com, not to mention HSPA in GSM. Humm…Borkov = Idiot

I’m tired of constant waiting for new Blackberry phone releases (Bolds, Storms, whatever). Given that something new and better will inevitably show up a couple a months later anyway, I give up. I bought an iPhone last week.

    Waiting……Waiting….want a Storm……

Like the iPhone, hate AT&T….. NO BARS IN MORE PLACES…..

My verizon service has been spectacular…..

Love the Blackberry Platform. Had an 8830WE, Using a Curve now…but will have a Storm…..

I have a blackberry pearl from verizon, and the phone is horrible. I wanted a phone that does email text pictures and the internet. It does that, but the phone keeps crashing, and I have to keep getting it replaced. I’m so tempted to get the iphone. From what I ve seen the apple technogoly is so much better. Then, heard about the storm. Well, I’m curious. Can it do what they claim? If the technology is the same, then forgot it.

  • Dona

I can echo Melissa’s comments – those are my exact thoughts as I have the BB pearl. It was great at first (got it 2 years ago) but now in the last 10 months it is constantly crashing, even after I erased EVERYTHING (applications, picures, text messages) The memory card is not helping so I think it’s the phone. Almost paid the cancellation fee for tmobile to switch to the iphone but now I’m waiting for the Storm. Can’t wait for the reviews.
Do all BB’s have issues or just the Pearl?

  • dtchristy

I’ve had a BB pearl for almost a year now as well. I love the BB platform and this phones functionality, but I too am having terrible difficulty with its memory self-clean. I’ve taken all the steps to try to prevent it, but it still happens. That said, I’m told that its the only BB that has these issues (I know my husbands curve does not) and cannot wait to get the storm. BB offers so many more practical functions than iphone the choice is simple. Being able to pretend to eat popcorn from an iphone is cool, but call me simple I just love to cut and paste!

  • bigjon

Ok so it obvious the storm isnt coming out on the 4th…
The pearl sux. Sorry ladies, but you got it before everyone found out. I have the 8830 and it is great except for the lack of media, almost switched to the curve, but will wait to see what the storm is like. I hate touch/tap screens, but this one is supposed to be “special” We shall see

to all those with issues with the pearl, I think it’s a pearl thing. I’ve been using the 8830WE after having massive crash attacks with the Motorola Q, various LG phones, etc–and I’ve never had a phone that is as stable as the blackberry.

I mean, sure, every once in awhile it crashes–but it’s a mini computer that fits in your pocket. and hits the pavement. and gets talked on for at least 8 hours a day. And after all that…it’s only crashed on me maybe 3 times–and of those, it just needed a reboot. I have heard of lots of problems with the pearl, though. I think it’s because they’re really great at making pda phones, but they tried to skim down the pearl, and it just didn’t work as well as they had hoped, I think. Just a thought.

best phoen I’ve ever had, and I’m really looking forward to the storm.
