Volkswagen Scirocco now available in base models
By: Peter Chubb | October 7, 2008 | Leave a CommentWhen I was driving along the road the other day, I see what I thought to be one of the sexiest cars I have ever laid my eyes on. When I got home I did a little homework, and was shocked to learn that the car in question was the new Volkswagen Scirocco.
I also learned that this new car was only available in up-level GT trim, however Volkswagen have now rectified their mistake and are about to offer a base model Scirocco. The new base model will start from just £18.790.
The standard engine that comes with the new base model is VW’s 1.4-liter TSI engine. The powerplant can produce 160 horsepower and offer43 miles per gallons in the combined EU cycle. There is also to be a second engine which is available for both the base model and the GT trims. The new 2 liter diesel will offer 140 horsepower and have a combined EU cycle of 55 miles per gallon.
