Sony PRS-700 E-book Reader: touch-screen display

Sony PRS-700 E-book Reader: touch-screen display

By: Peter Chubb | October 6, 2008 | 4 Comments

Sony already has the PRS-505, but they have been working on a new model to add to the range of electronic readers. The new PRS-700 E-book Reader features the same 6-inch electronic paper display, with one difference, the newer model comes with a touch-screen and reading light.

Having the touch-screen allows readers to turn the pages as well as search through the e-book, just by using an on-screen keyboard. The new light will help people read in darker environments.

The Sony PRS-700 E-book Reader is able to store up to 350 books in its internal memory, but more can be added by using an SD Card or Memory Stick. The battery should last up to 7,500 pages of continuous reading. The new Sony PRS-700 E-book Reader will be on sale in the U.S. sometime in November.

The cool thing about Sony’s notebook is that it is price comparable to what the average user is will to pay, between $25 and $29 for the device and 25 cents a book. Finally they have seen that consumers are will to pay to dollar for a reader done right and the ~27.50 price tag is it. WELL DONE SONY!

I think the price is going to be ~$400 not $27.50.

Sony have finally released the reader in the UK, but the selection of titles available is still far too small to make it worthwhile.

A shame as I buy 50-100 books a year and travel a lot so the reader or something similar would be ideal.

The price is $399, but considering that the PRS-505 is $299 and the light that you can buy for it is around $60.00 and the PRS-700 has a light built in it’s a pretty good deal. Also, having the touch screen and being able to make notes in the text is awesome.

The PRS 700 loos very good. But is there no dictionary? The PRS 600 has it.
