Last year right after thanksgiving I purchased a megellan maestro as a christmas presant for my husband, now less then a year the tell me that the internal battery is gone. Isn’t there at least a year garentee on this product tell me what to do next.

How does one tell the machine you want to take another route other than the one it says you need to take. For example, I want to drive somewhere along the coast road but it insists I take the inland expressway. The machine, I call her Gertie, finally figures out what I’m doing after a bunch of miles where she is telling me to do a legal U turn as soon as possible, but this gets old fast.
Thank God she isn’t a real woman who would berate me and call all kinds of idiot and dumbass till I turned onto HER idea of the correct route.

I’m having the same issue as Fred. It keeps saying low battery and shuts off even when plugged into the charger.

I would recommend getting the new maps that came out by magellan, I have had my maestro for year and a half and there was alot of roads not on there. I bought the Magellan 2008/09 map update fom autonavdirect.com and now my unit is current. If you guys have any questions let me know.

    Thanks
