Toyota iQ micro car to get new rear window airbag
By: Peter Chubb | October 1, 2008 | Leave a CommentThe most important feature of a car these days is safety, and achieving a five star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is what automakers aim for. Many would assume that it is the larger cars that have all the best safety features, but that is not the case.
Toyota are working on a new rear window airbag for their smaller cars, and this device will become standard equipment on their upcoming iQ micro car. The problem with smaller cars is there is not much metal between you and a car that hits you up the rear.
The new rear window airbag will help to absorb the impact in a rear collision. Toyota has said that in an accident these new airbags will help to protect the neck and head. Toyota does not want to stop there, they are planning to improve the safety of their vehicles by making side curtain and shield airbags standard in all of their cars.
