When it comes to talking about the PlayStation 4, Sony is a little quiet, but what would you expect as they still fully back the PS3. There has been some talk though and that is about the chip that will be used in the PS4. It seems as if Sony will stick with the one inside their PlayStation 3.
The new PS4 will be cheaper; this is done by using a slightly faster 45nm Cell processor. It is thought that not much will change in its architecture. This has to be done in order to keep costs down, as Sony is still losing money on their PS3.
When the Sony PS3 was launched it was a huge step forward compared to the PS2, but the PS4 will just be an evolution of the PlayStation 3. Sony needs to look everywhere to try and cut costs; another area is by changing the Rambus XDR memory to DDR3 memory.

How about next time they don’t try and force new, expensive and slow to produce tech on consumers and concentrate on making the machine powerful, affordable and available to everyone on release day. Regardless of where you stand on the inclusion of BD no one can argue that delaying the release of the PS3 by up to a year after the Japanese and US release didn’t hurt the machine.
I agree. Being so late to the race really crippled the launch of the PS3. That’s how they lost most of the hard core games of this generation of consoles. Even though the Xbox launch was disastrous in terms of releasing a quality working product. Even if users had to return there Xbox’s multiple times, they were already anchored in with the purchase of software and accessories.
The PS3 is an amazing machine. If Sony can improve off of that existing architecture, and produce less expensive machines – they should end up doing fairly well.
