RealDVD Lawsuit: Hollywood takes legal action against Real Network
By: Peter Chubb | October 1, 2008 | Leave a CommentWhen it comes to lawsuits, nobody is safe. There are reports that Hollywood is taking legal action against Real Networks for RealDVD, their DVD copying software. If recent cases are anything to go by, then Real Networks might come out worse.
About five years ago, a number of Hollywood studios took 321 studios to court, as they had also created software that would allow people to copy DVDs. The court case lasted about one year, then the studio had to close.
Real Networks are not stupid, they would not have created RealDVD if they thought that they could be taken to court. This should be a very interesting case, one that we will all be watching carefully.
