New Nintendo DS coming: with camera and music playback

Nintendo hope to take the fight to the Sony PSP by giving the DS a camera and music playback. The Japanese games console maker need to do this in order to remain competitive in the ever growing market. The new Nintendo DS will still keep the dual screen layout with microphone, but with the added features of a camera and ability to play music.

Wired have taken a close look at the original source of the article, which was in Japanese and they say that Nintendo hope to release the new version DS before the end of the year. The article does not mention when other regions will get to see the new Nintendo DS.

Although this story is not confirmed, the article is convincing enough for us to believe it. There is no denying how popular the DS is, but Nintendo know that by adding these two small features, it will help to give this handheld gaming system a new lease of life.
