Dell Laptops go green with LED Backlights

Buzz This

We all know that one of the largest drains on a laptop battery has to be the display, so coming up with a solution to this problem was big on Dell’s list. Well it seems that Dell has the answer, and that is to fit all their laptops with LED Backlights.

Dell hope to be using the energy-saving light-emitting diode backlights in all their laptops by 2010. Dell has said that by December 15, two-thirds of their Latitude E-series laptops will be shipped with LED backlighting as standard.

By the end of 2009, it is thought that 80 percent of Dell’s laptop range will have the new LED backlights; this will do a lot to help with the whole green issue when it comes to laptops. This is also good as there is no mercury in LED backlights, which is another great environmental feature.
