
SanDisk music format SlotMusic back by record labels
By: Daniel Chubb | September 22, 2008 | Leave a CommentSanDisk has announced a new and exciting physical music format called “SlotMusic” and the real good news is that it is backed by four major record labels.
Basically the new format allows an entire album on a MicroSD compact memory card, two companies named Best Buy and Wal-Mart are among some of the retailers that will be selling these new cards for the upcoming season, sign sealed and delivered.
SlotMusic cards will be sold to customers without digital rights management restrictions and in MP3 file format, the record labels involved includes Warner Music Group, EMI Music, Universal Music Group and Sony BMG. The cards are expected to cost around $7 to $10, seeing as CD sales are plummeting into a black hole, this must be said that this is a fantastic idea. Read the full article here.
